Welcome to the Channel 1® Chathouse® -- the most popular chat site on the Internet!
The Chathouse® Rules! (and Terms...)
Enjoy yourself here, but respect the rights of others.
A message to potential abusers: YOU ARE NOT ANONYMOUS, despite the use of
fake ID's. We maintain a database of all IP addresses associated with
legitimate and fake ID's. Even if your IP address changes constantly, the
time stamp is all we need to identify you. If criminal activity is
involved, your Internet Service Provider must cooperate in your
identification.
Channel 1 reserves the right to disable any user for any reason, some of
which are listed here. This is not a complete list, but it does point out
the most common abuses.
- Use of an offensive Handle is not allowed.
- Profanity; gender, sexual-preference, religious, ethnic slurs; or unwelcome
overtures of any kind to other chatters will not be tolerated. The friendly attitude
in the Chathouse® will not be compromised. If you are being rude to other chatters,
you may find yourself kicked out of the room and you will be reported to your domain
administrator.
These forums are meant to be places of civility, decency and
enlightened cordial conversation. Unfortunately, some will ignore this notion,
you need not be among them. In our "Public Access" rooms,
you can check an abuser's domain and find the
administrator of offenders by checking with an InterNIC Whois lookup.
In our "Members Only" rooms, you may report abusers by sending E-Mail to
abuse@chathouse.com
using "cut" and "paste" to document the offensive behavior.
- Signing into multiple forums is not allowed. Always use the "exit forum" button
when leaving a chat room. (If you do not, you will delay another chatter's entry for
five minutes.)
- Harassing other users, including impersonation of other users will not be tolerated.
Handles that impersonate will be blocked.
- Impersonating of Channel 1® or Chathouse® employees, representatives,
or hosts is strictly forbidden. Handles that impersonate will be blocked.
- Discussing obscene topics or harassing others in a public forum is prohibited.
- Soliciting of any kind is prohibited.
- Posting adult or pornographic pictures in a public forum is prohibited.
- Abuse of HTML, including but not limited to: repeatedly sending very
long messages, leaving tags open (such as blink tags, color tags) so that
text is unreadable to other users, or any malicious hacking that makes it
difficult to read the screen, is not acceptable.
- Masking or hiding your IP address is not allowed.
We repeat: YOU ARE NOT ANONYMOUS, despite the use of fake ID's. We
maintain a database of all IP addresses associated with legitimate and fake
ID's. Even if your IP address changes constantly, the time stamp is all we
need to identify you. If criminal activity is involved, your Internet
Service Provider must cooperate in your identification.
Be aware of these rules. By using the Chathouse®, you essentially agree to
follow them. You or the Chathouse® may terminate your account at any time
for any reason. Once your account is terminated, you may not engage in
Member activities in the Chathouse®, in any manner for any reason, without
the express AND written consent of the Chathouse® Administrator. If you
assist in enabling a terminated member to access the Chathouse® using your
account, your membership will be revoked.
