Welcome
to the Chatters' Ezine! Well Ladies and Gentlemen, I sent out the call for input from the chatters and input I received! First, let me share with you some of the less productive emails that we received. *L* hey,
how r u doing. I'm doing fine. You are gonna e*mail me back? RIGHT. Well
I'd better go. But then I also received some emails more along the order that I was looking for, such as... I liked the articles relating to the Aussies how about the other cultures in the chathouse ? Great Idea! We are open to more
specific ideas. If you have cultural tidbits to share from your home
country, please feel free. Trivia, recipes, history, famous people and
landmarks, etc... For those chatters here in the U.S., perhaps you could
submit local cultural items relating to your state. Maybe we'll do some
State-theme Ezines as well. So, send your state or country trivia, recipes,
history, famous people and landmarks, or other tid-bits to ch_zine@hotmail.com
and put 'cultural exchange' in the subject line. Thanks for the
idea, but unfortunately this is one that we will not be able to do. Why you
ask? Well, look at the ad banner at the top of the page. Match.com
IS the Chathouse personals! *L* It is separate from Chathouse handles and
the Ezine IS promoting it and has been for some time now! We are glad you
think it was a good idea, we thought it was a pretty good idea, too.
Unfortunately, our promotion of it seems to be lacking a bit. *L* Hopefully
this will highlight it a bit and remind other chatters to pay attention to
the banner ads, they are what keeps the Chathouse doors open and give us all
a place to gather here in cyberspace. Not to mention the fact that you'll
find some pretty neat stuff behind those banner ads as well. *S* Again
thanks for the ideas and we look forward to your continued activity and
involvement with the Ezine! Great Idea!
Anyone planning any Gatherings, Parties or Get-Togethers in the upcoming
Summer months, feel free to send the details to us here at the Ezine and we
will gladly get the word out for you. Send the details to us here at ch_zine@hotmail.com. Well, chat and gossip kinda go together, just as any large gathering of people will inevitably lead to gossip. Now we have no intention of turning the Ezine into the online version of the National Enquirer or anything, but we will entertain the idea of including some things of that nature, as long as it is tasteful and not malicious in any way. ChatDominatrix handles the News and Issues relating to the Chathouse itself, but any other News, Events, Celebrations, etc. need to come from YOU, the chatters. As for MyTwoCents, I am sure that he will be flattered by the vote of confidence, but as always we will welcome anyone willing to step up with their own opinion piece as well. MyTwoCents and Rantmaster had an ongoing battle of opinions going for a while which many found very entertaining. We would gladly welcome anyone else willing to step up to the plate as well. Having browsed through the old War Room forum a time or two, I know there are a few of you out there who have very different opinions than MyTwoCents, don't sit there in silence, we will let your voice be heard here! Thanks for all
of the input so far, we greatly appreciate it and keep it coming! What do you expect to see when you open

Two Cents on American This brings me to my final article in this series dealing with American Culture, click the 'Borders' and/or 'Language' in the title to refresh your memory. This weeks subject of 'Culture' in America is inextricably tied to the issues of borders and language. Contrary to popular belief these days, there is indeed an American Culture! What is American Culture? Well first let me tell you a few things that American Culture is NOT. American Culture IS NOT the multicultural, patchwork, everyone celebrate the culture they came from nonsense that is being spouted by many in today's society. There is a big difference between remembering your roots, honoring your ancestors or carrying on traditions and CULTURE. I have nothing against people celebrating their heritage because America is a collection of many very diverse people with a wide variety of different heritages. However, the one thing that brings us all together as AMERICANS is our common American Culture. The American Culture is very aptly described in The Bible, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and Bill of Rights! Now I know that many will immediately take exception to my including The Bible as a defining factor in American Culture, after all we have Freedom of Religion, Right? Wrong! The Bible is very much a part of American Culture. The Bible was instrumental in not only the settlement and establishment of America, but also in American philosophy, law, The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Our Founding Fathers were fundamentalist protestant Christians for the most part. A country founded by Christians most definitely built with The Bible as the foundation of it's culture. Building upon that foundation and having suffered religious persecution in England our founding fathers saw fit to allow any and all religions the freedom to worship as they see fit, but American Culture still has The Bible as it's cornerstone. What else defines American Culture? The Declaration of Independence clearly outlines a culture of freedom as We The People recognized our unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness that we were endowed with by our Creator. Independence, Liberty, Freedom are all integral parts of our culture. The Constitution continues on that theme by defining the power of the people, the limits of our government and further reinforces the culture of independence. This again is supported in the Bill of Rights. Now, looking at the culture defining documents as well as American History and the melting pot make up of America, the American Culture is quite clear. To me, American Culture can be described as Judeo-Christian based ideals and morals, independent and resistant to oppression and tyranny, FREE to live, to express ourselves in both opinion and religion, and to pursue happiness in our own individual way. We will not be dictated to (by our own government or political, minority or lobbyist groups), will not bend to the will of others (UN, terrorists, foreign nations), We The People control our government (not vise versa), we agree to disagree about certain things, but in the end we are each free to be independent with the liberty to live by our own moral codes (within reason) and not be infringed upon by others. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." In short, the American Culture is one of values, independence, liberty and freedom. These are the values that people immigrate here for and these values are based upon The Bible, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights. To the extent that language plays a part in culture, this nation was founded as an English speaking country, has always been an English speaking country and no nation can be truly united if divided by language. So, in the context of culture, America is an English speaking culture and should be OFFICIALLY declared and recognized as such. Our border also play a part in our culture, because a nation without sovereignty cannot maintain an identifiable culture. Open or swiss cheese borders undermine national sovereignty and dilute and corrupt American culture by allowing people of differing cultures to infiltrate our nation and unduly influence the American Culture with their own culture. When someone enters illegally, they have no stake in adopting our culture, no inclination to be a part of our culture and bring their own outside culture and values with them. The process of immigration MUST be controlled, the process MUST require acceptance of our culture and an oath of allegiance to our nation and it's culture, values and freedoms. I received something in my email that sums up the frustration of many Americans and expresses very clearly the strength of conviction that the American Culture entails. The author is unknown to me, but the words are crystal clear and right to the heart of the matter. American Culture, actually America Itself, is under attack on many fronts. This piece is the battle cry of Real Americans and an expression of the culture that unites us. IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT Michael Savage founded The Paul Revere Society (PRS). With a crisis of leadership threatening the United States, PRS stands for the reassertion of our borders, our language, and our culture. Some say that the borders are arbitrary, English is only one of many languages in our new "Multicultural America," and that we share no common history or values. We believe in the Sovereignty of our Nation. That English is our national "glue." And that we all do share in the pillars of the Bible, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. These documents and what they stand for are our common cultural heritage. The Paul Revere Society (PRS) will assert the values inherent in these pillars of freedom. We will seek to educate the citizenry about our nation's freedoms.That's My Two Cents, Deal With It! So, what have you got to say? Friendships made at the moment, could prove to be life long and one person in particular is likely to have a lasting affect on your future. Getting to know this person could ensure that you become more financially secure than you thought possible.
There will be little that could happen to shake your confidence. You won't be frightened to make decisions, if you decide something is not exactly right for you, then you will find a diplomatic and tactful way to explain your reasoning.
It may not be a good idea to purchase expensive tickets to something until you have discussed it with your partner, it is likely that your plans will have to change when your partner reveals what they want to do. Being more kind and considerate than of late, you will bend to their wishes and go along with their plans rather than your own.
You could discover that a project, you thought an excellent idea, should be abandoned due to the trouble it is causing everyone else. If you suffer a small amount of inconvenience as a result, you could find an unexpected bonus helps to get over this.
Although,
it may not be possible to revert to childish innocence, your joy for life and
appreciation of the world around you could greatly improve and cause you to
become less serious and cynical.
Relationships especially are likely to benefit from a new approach to life. Those of you that are single, may take a step now, that could in the near future result in you finding the love that you have always dreamt of. As a first step, pay special attention to a comment made by a stranger.
Try to remember that although you would like everything to be perfect, it is in human nature to make mistakes and that you too are liable to make some, so you should not expect from others what you are unable to achieve yourself.
Children
could become irritable and spend much of the time arguing amongst themselves.
You will soon realize that you are not going to cope too well with this at the
moment. Perhaps a baby sitter would not be a bad idea after all. A female
relation is likely to offer you the help you want. If so, take what ever help is
offered! Listen to everything that is said to you. There may be some important guidance offered that will bring a solution to any financial problems you have. If someone offers to become a business partner, then think very carefully about the offer. This could be just what you need to leap the final hurdle to the success you have been working towards.
The course of action you have set out on, looks likely to bring its own rewards far quicker than you expect. Spend time with your family, you will soon catch the happy and positive mood that is currently surrounding you. |
