Editor's Note: (Substitute Editor RiderOfTxStorm™) This issue of the Chathouse Ezine is being published by yours truly RiderOfTxStorm™. Our beloved MichiganStorm™ is taking a much needed sabbatical and I will be taking up the reigns until her return. Over the last month we have all been through alot and it looks as though the end will not come anytime soon. With that in mind we will try to get things back as close to normal as possible, but will still include things that relate to life in this new world of ours when it seems appropriate. If you have something to add, normal or tragedy related, please feel free to send it to us at ch_zine@hotmail.com. This issue of the Ezine commemorates the one month anniversary of the tragedy that has changed our world. In this issue we will address that fact, but will also include the more "normal" Ezine articles as well. Thank You for your support!  *S*

Q & A
MichiganStorm™

Due to the fact the Ezine has not been posted in sometime, I've decided to re-post our last asked question and hope that more of you will take time to answer this very thought provoking question. The question, submitted by Sally Brown, was indeed submitted prior to the horrible tragedies of September 11th, 2001 but very much seemed to pertain to the events. With this said, I give you the "directions" and the question!

The Game: The game Honesty is based on Truth or Dare, but without the dare. When actually playing the game one player asks a question and all have to answer honestly, including the player who asked the pending question. For the new Ezine version of the game I will ask a new question each week and all ChatHouse® chatters are welcome [and invited] to send in a response. The following week not only will a new question be asked, but the answers to [any] previous questions that we recieve will also be posted, including my own.

Please send all answers to ch_zine@hotmail.com and be sure to include the handle under which your input should be posted [if a handle is not submitted, there will be no handle posted with the response]. If you have any questions you'd like asked in our Q & A section, please send them to the same address! Thank you.

This Weeks Question:
If you could eliminate just one of the evils in the world what would it be and why?  [Submitted by Sally Brown]

My Two Cents on
Freedom vs. Safety

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin

It has been one month since the United States of America was awakened to the fact that we are not invincible or impervious to terrorist attack. Since that time there has been much talk about what we can do to protect ourselves and how we can increase security to prevent future attacks. Talk of things such as national ID cards and expanding the government intelligence agencies ability to gather information (wire taps, background checks, etc.). We are only a month into this New America and already "Big Brother" is expanding his reach. I ask you now, at what cost do we get "security and safety" from our government?

How much do you value your privacy?
How valuable is the ability to move freely around this country?
Can you put up with checkpoints and "let me see your papers"?
Do you want your life reduced to data on a "smart card"?
Should the government be able to investigate your affairs without "just cause"?
Who is watching you know and what do they know about you already?

Americans have developed an almost Pavlovian reaction to adversity over the last 75 years, since the Great Depression and Roosevelt's New Deal. However, there are still those that continue to hold to the principles of self-determination and personal responsibility. With each passing generation, it seems, those numbers decline and a new generation of sheep are born. The tragedy of September 11th has brought both of these groups into sharper focus. Starting with the passengers of Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania when the passengers took charge of their own fate and, in doing so, saved countless others. Passengers and citizens all over the country have done the same in the days since. Taking charge of their surroundings and taking responsibility for what happens to themselves and those around them. Unfortunately, the other side of that coins has come into the spotlight as well. Those calling for increased security (by the government), more thorough background checks, national ID "smart cards", etc. This faction, while motivated in some cases by good intentions, would ask us all to relinquish our freedoms and personal liberties for the sake of a sense of security that is temporary at best and completely false in reality. While these ideas to increase our security may indeed give us some protection, there is nothing we can do that is fool-proof, so in the end is that false sense of temporary security worth the price we would pay with our freedoms and liberties? What of those who are not motivated by "good intentions", but rather by greed or, worse yet, by a desire to undermine our freedoms and liberties completely?

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." Samual Adams

In the end we have the choice of taking control of our own individual destinies or burying our heads in the sand and hoping "Uncle Sam" can protect us (which he can't). We can protect ourselves better than any government or organization can protect us! I will leave you with this thought. As you hear the ideas and proposals to "protect" Americans or "help the government" to better protect public safety and/or "national security", bear in mind that nothing done by others on your behalf comes without a price. How much of your freedom, liberty and privacy are you willing to give up as payment? Better yet, stop and think, take a look around you and ask yourself... "How much have I given up already?"

So, what have you got to say?
Let me know and I'll tell you if it's worth 2 cents!

WHAT'S NEW IN CHATHOUSE
by: ~White Rose~

Well as usual when it gets down to the wire...who gets called upon.....Bold Bitch here, as all the Bashful Bitches are in hiding *looks toward Canada*

*steps up to podium*  I was summoned here to make an announcement about the newest addition to Chathouse.  One of which I am sure will interest all women, a few men in search of new lipstick shades, and other men who are just damn curious.  *LOL*  But let me warn you curious men this is a BDSM-PMS room, so zip everything ya got if you plan to leave with everything you came in with.

Before I pull the drape on this venting venue......please let me share with you how this labor of love was born.  About a year ago when Chathouse was on one of it's slow nights, a group of us decided to bunch up on MSN and to put it simply, BITCH!!!!  As I recall it was me, Forbidden, Lynx, Blueduck, jeje, freya, and dreamin' (F).  I think Tom Terrific jumped onboard for a few, but when we started talking the side effects of hormone replacement therapy, he backed out thinking he may become a lab experiment.  *LMAO*  We bitched for hours on end about husbands, ex-husbands, wanting an ex-husband, what to look for in a gun, housework, husbands, working outside the home, cooking, getting old, overweight, underweight, husbands, plastic surgery (tits vs no tits), lack of money, husbands, PMS, CRS and ASS, Oh! that was about husbands, ex in my case!!!!!!  Forbidden entertained us with her twirls, while Lynx spun the tunes!!!!  It was a delightful night, NO men to come back at us, just sipping a little red and bitchin' the night away.  We nicknamed ourselves the "Magnificent Seven"!  Thus was born the "Bitches Ballroom".

We kept this idea alive in hopes that Chathouse would hear our plea for our need to vent and allow us our very own domain.  Well girls! And guys too!  That day has come *pulls drape from room entrance* May I present to you, fellow chatters!  Drum roll please........ "The Bitches' Ballroom"!  *applause*

I cannot tell you exactly when this room will be up and going, depends on when Chathouse click's their mouse, but be assured it will be well worth the wait!  *whispers* No Forbidden Zone!  So come as you are or choose a Bitch handle, but leave "A #1 Bitch" alone, that's mine, unless, however, you want to start bitchin' now and that can be arranged. *LOL* We invite men to come as they are, as "Bastards". *thinking* I can hardly wait for Bigglesworth to try on his new name "Sir Bastard Bigglie"!! *LMDAO*

We hope you will join us, bring a friend, but under no circumstances are we responsible for friends lost or enemies made while visiting!  You're on your own!

Ladies Room Gossip:
I wanted to start this first ‘news’ of the Ladies Room with some cheerful headlines.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congratulations go to Sxyclowngoddes, Bad Reputation, ViXeN, Untouchable Face, and Kimxi on their bundles of Joy. It seems that a pregnant disease has traveled around our happy little room recently. So, CONGRATS girls! Best of luck!! Another CONGRATS goes out to SeXXXy Vancouver Guy and his girlfriend on their baby due in Nov!

WOLF IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING.

Okay, now onto the more serious news, the reason I’m putting this here instead of on my Chatter’s Gossip page is because it effects the Chat House as a whole. For this man chats in several rooms here and the regular chatters need to know what kind of man he is.

It’s been brought to this little chatter's attention recently that there’s a wolf among our sheep. He chats under the handles Phirana, Meth, Adam 21/M/OH, Duo Maxwell, among others. We’re not exactly sure how many names this man carries. He comes from a town on the Oh/Penn border called Warren, Oh.

It seems that Mr. Adam has the ‘taste’ for women. Now, a lot of men are like this, but being as this is cyber land, it’s a little easier to pull off. But, until recently, all regulars in the LR thought that he was with one woman. BUT it seems that we were totally off the mark.

A few days back his fiancée came into the room to chat to a few friends and a fight of sorts broke out between his girlfriend and his fiancée. It seems Mr. Adam did pull a fast one and now being the one caught, he’s lying his way around just like a good little doggie.  Multiple stories have popped up recently over whom he’s been dating, but it seems clear to me that he should be stopped and castrated, but we’ll let the Gods that be handle this one. Hopefully, he doesn’t pull this one over on any other female chatter for some time and I hope that all of you are safe and secure in your relationships and friendships to spot men like this out!!  If you DO know him, be careful talking to him for he is a crafty one and can pull one over on most anyone. The smartest women can be fooled into dating him, although shortly after dumping him we all seem to wonder what exactly caused them to date him in the first place.

Well, that’s all there is for this weeks Headlines of the Ladies Room Gossip.

Dark Whispers © the Gossip Queen

The Attic:

Seems how this is My first time writing in the Ezine.  I think I should Introduce myself.  My name is Jenn.  I am known through the attic by various names.  I am 23 and from Canada.  My most well known handle is Jenn23.

I am here to tell you about my home away from home;  the Attic.   The Attic has been alive ( up and running ) for almost 6 years.  I first started going there at the beginning of 1998  And it has changed a lot since then.   Back when I first joined the attic we had to  wait to get into a room because almost all the rooms we wanted in were packed full with it's 20 people.  Now with a max room we can hold 30 people , But we are not always filling the rooms any more.   The nights are the most popular time in the attic and the days are semi quiet.  You can hear the odd Fight now and then.   Weather it is about the tragedies of what has happened in the United States, Or sex.  There is always talk about everything with in the attic.  No one is afraid to talk to anyone.

As I sit in the attic right this very second in Adults Only we are talking about abortion and the Tragedies that befell the WTC and the pentagon.  For the past almost three weeks this has been a daily discussion with in this room.  Where as if you travel to Singles Scene  it is unnaturally quiet.  Normally Singles is filled with the attic's Teenagers  whom talk about gossip and other things on going in the attic as of this day.

There are Many jokers in the Attic whom will make you laugh and enjoy your stay in our lovely chat area.  the biggest Joker in Adults only is one called Bouncy X (permission for handle use was granted).  He tries Anything to make people laugh.  I am not sure if it is to see a smile on the faces of everyone   or if he does it to confuse them but whenever he is in the room it is always hilarious.

I have asked a few Questions to the people of Adults Only (as there is no one anywhere else this afternoon yet)  so i think i will post them here today  -smiles-

1.  What would you say to people who are thinking about coming here for the first time about the attic?

Answers:
Aero :  My advice is not to get too personal

katrina_db : It is a diverse collection of characters .

Bouncy X :  Just because it says it is all about sex...It's not always true

. :  This chat area is the coolest

Kira: I just started chatting here a week ago and the attic was the first place i came too, the format is easy, and most of the people are pretty friendly.

Talorin Sath: We welcome you with open hearts and open minds.

Holli: It is a great way to escape reality

Jenn(Me):  I would tell them that the attic is a place where many people can come together from many different walks of life to laugh and to enjoy the fact that reality does not exist for that moment

2.  How Long have you been a chatter in the attic?

Answers:
Aero:  Almost 6 years
Holli: January will be 5 years
Bouncy X: 4 years
Talorin Sath: 5 years
. :  2 years
Jenn(Me): 4 years

3.  If there was one person in here whom you would love to be best friends in reality with who would it be?

Answers:
Aero: Too many to mention
Fugitive: Holli and MacK
Bouncy X: Scarlett Angel
Holli:  Haulinass and ~boogiewoman~
Talorin Sath:  ~shark~ and annie22
Jenn(Me):  Silver Star,  Something For Kate, and Shirl

The Singles Scene
Singles Scene with it's minimal people this afternoon was extremely rude and unresponsive.  Especially a person with the handle Keona whom told me to go back to adults only before i even had the first question.  95% of the time the people with in this room are not as rude but this afternoon they were.  I will see if maybe in the future  if they will respond to simple question, but until then you only have the answers from those of adults only this fine day.

This is now the end of My very first article for this wonderful Ezine.  I give my thanks to Chat Dominatrix whom approached me this morning with a task I was going to ask to do.

Peace Love Harmony

Jenn23

WEEKLY HOROSCOPES

Aries.... March 21 - April 19
Ruling Planet:
Mars. MASCULINE, FIRE

Assertive, Urgent.
Positive Traits:
Pioneering and adventurous spirit. Enterprising, Direct, Highly energetic, Loving freedom.
Negative Traits:
Selfish, Unsubtle, Always put themselves first, Impulsive, Impatient, Quick tempered.

You may believe that you have spent too much time recently away from your family. Now, especially during the latter part of the week, you will find sufficient enthusiasm to make visits to family members that you have not seen for a while. You could be pleasantly surprised at the reception that you receive and there could be some exciting news awaiting you.

Taurus.... April 20 - May 20
Ruling Planet:

Venus. FEMININE, EARTH
Key Words:  Possessive, Permanent.
Positive Traits:  Practical, Reliable, Good business sense, Love of luxury and good foods, Persistent, Affectionate, Trustworthy.
Negative Traits:  Possessive, Lazy, Stubborn, Lacks flexibility, Obsessed with routine.

Family matters could be on your mind a lot at the moment. Perhaps, if you have children, you are planning a party or other surprise for one of them. If so, a chance meeting later in the week could produce an unexpected opportunity to make the party perfect.

Gemini.... May 21 - June 20
Ruling Planet:  Mercury. MASCULINE, AIR
Key Words:  Communicative, Adaptable, Versatile.
Positive Traits:  Adaptable, Versatile, Logical, Spontaneous, Talkative, Flair for languages, Always youthful in outlook and appearance.
Negative Traits:  Changeable, Restless, Cunning, Superficial, A gossip

Although you may have recently had a few problems in your private life, in general, you should find that things have not been going too badly recently. As you reflect on this, you will soon come to the realization that while things are tending to go in your favor, you should try to create new and more profitable opportunities.

Cancer.... June 21 - July 22
Ruling Planet:  Moon. FEMININE, WATER
Key Words: Protective, Sensitive.
Positive Traits: Kind, Sensitive, Sympathetic, Powerful imagination, A good parent, Protective, Cautious, Thrifty, A good home maker.
Negative Traits:  Over-emotional, Hyper-sensitive, Touchy, Moody, Sharp tempered, Self pity, Untidy, Unforgiving.

No matter how logically you try to approach things this week, you will find that your decisions and actions are clouded by your emotions. This will not be a great time to make life changing decisions. You will find that you are ruled far too much by your heart. If changes are planned you could find that you regret them for a long time to come. There could also be the tendency to speak before you think.

Leo.... July 23 - August 22
Ruling Planet: Sun. MASCULINE, FIRE
Key Words: Creative, Impressive, Powerful.
Positive Traits: Magnanimous, Generous, Creative, Enthusiastic, A good organizer, Broad minded, A sense of drama.
Negative Traits: Dogmatic, Bully, Pompous, Snobbish, Intolerant, Patronizing, Power mad, Conceited.

You will find it almost impossible to keep your temper at the moment. This may cause you some confusion, since you will be convinced that you are in a wonderful mood and that everyone else, seems to be so bad tempered. Once you can admit to yourself, when you are in the wrong and learn that you are the cause of the numerous arguments that you are bound to be involved in, you should start to find that things go a little easier.

Virgo.... August 23 - September 22
Ruling Planet: Mercury. FEMININE, EARTH
Key Words: Critical, Analytical.
Positive Traits: Discriminating, Analytical, Careful/Exact, Modest, Tidy.
Negative Traits: Fussy, A warrior, Hypercritical, Conventional

A great time will be found if you have to work in a competitive environment. All that you try is likely to run smoothly and turn out very profitable. This could result in a pay rise or promotion and you certainly won't suffer from a lack of recognition from bosses. If you have been under the weather recently, you should find your health improving early in the week as your energy levels increase.

 Libra.... September 23 - October 22
Ruling Planet: Venus. MASCULINE, AIR
Key Words: Harmonious, Together.
Positive Traits: Charming, Easy going, Romantic, Diplomatic, Idealistic, Refined.
Negative Traits: Indecisive, Resentful, Changeable, Gullible, Frivolous.

Searching for a deeper meaning to life, mystical, metaphysical and religious matters may now attract you. You may join a group which will teach you a new philosophy or provide a more spiritual outlook on life. Beware deception! Try to listen to the important messages being sent from your inner psyche, your inner self. Dreams may seem more meaningful than ever before and for a very good reason. Those of you that are single, could finally meet the person of your dreams this week.

Scorpio.... October 23 - November 21
Ruling Planet: Pluto, (Traditionally Mars) FEMININE, WATER
Key Words: Intense, Passionate.
Positive Traits: Strong feelings and emotions, A sense of purpose, Very imaginative, Discerning, Subtle, Persistent, Determined.
Negative Traits: Jealous, Resentful, Stubborn, Obstinate, Secretive, Suspicious.

Cash flow may now be becoming your biggest worry. There are possibly large bills awaiting payment, and little if any money available to pay them. You will have feelings of frustration, as you are probably convinced that plans you have been working on recently are only a few weeks away from finally paying off. If only the bills had come next month, instead of now, all would have been ok, or so you may believe.

 Sagittarius.... November 22 - December 21
Ruling Planet:: Jupiter. MASCULINE, FIRE
Key Words: Exploring, Free.
Positive Traits: Jovial, Optimistic, Versatile, Open minded, Dependable, Sincere, Good judgment.
Negative Traits: Exaggerates, tactless, careless, irresponsible, Extremist.

If someone is not pulling their weight and you decide they are holding everyone else up, you will find little problem in telling them exactly what you think. Try to be a little diplomatic. A large argument at work could result in a clash with someone in authority and decisions about your future are unlikely to go your way.

 Capricorn.... December 22 - January 19
Ruling Planet: Saturn. FEMININE, EARTH
Key Words: Prudent, Calculated.
Positive Traits: Reliable, Determined, Ambitious, Careful, Prudent, Good sense of humor, Patient.
Negative Traits: Pessimistic, Miserly, Conventional, Rigid outlook.

Panicked by the thought of recently neglected responsibilities, you may be a little short tempered this week. You are likely to travel a long distance through the country, perhaps returning home from a trip. If so, you will find that you are impatient to get back, and have a firm determination that you will catch up and make up for all the lost time.

 Aquarius.... January 20 - February 18
Ruling Planet: Uranus (Traditionally Saturn) MASCULINE, AIR.
Key Words: Independent, Humane.
Positive Traits: Humanitarian, Independent, Friendly, Willing, Original, Inventive, Faithful, Loyal, Idealistic, Intellectual.
Negative Traits: Unpredictable, Eccentric, Rebellious, Tactless, Perverse, Tries too hard to be unconventional.

Next weekend will start with a large dose of luck calling for you! This will be a great time to purchase an extra lottery ticket, or to even have a small wager on a race! If you have any plans already made, you will be pleased to find that everything goes smoothly. A shopping trip could be especially fruitful as you are likely to find some terrific bargains and so be able to purchase far more than you expected.

Pisces.... February 19 - March 20
Ruling Planet: Neptune. FEMININE, WATER.
Key Words:  Impressionable.
Positive Traits:  Humble, Compassionate, Sympathetic, Sensitive, Adaptable, Kind, Intuitive, Receptive.
Negative Traits: Vague, Careless, Secretive, Easily confused, weak willed, Indecisive.

You should enjoy the start of this week, particularly if you can spend it in the company of a lot of people. You should find that you particularly enjoy the company of women, and you will have a relaxed feeling of love and happiness surrounding you. You are likely to get enormous pleasure from the simple things in life and very little would be able to put you in a bad mood. By midweek, a change should be on it's way. You are likely to find that work is very hectic and that your work load seems to be larger than ever.

Well, since I have been the back-up editor for the Ezine a few times, I have decided that it was about time that I contribute something to it. This is my first attempt at actually submitting something for the Ezine, so don't expect much. *L* Actually, I thought it would be a nice addition to the Ezine to include some interesting links in each edition. Links to funny or inspirational websites, links to informational and educational websites or links to current events or chat related websites. So, here is my first installment of Hot Links and if you have an interesting site that you would like to submit, email it to me at ch_zine@hotmail.com.

Psychology Network - Hey, I have been chatting for quite a while, I know this site could come in handy for some of us! *L*

FlashBlaster - Now even the novice can add Flash to their website. I you might like this one since we don't have the Homepage Help article this week.

This page is dedicated to all of those serving in Operation Enduring Freedom, and for all of our troops deployed in other countries and in the United States.
