Q & A MichiganStorm™
The Game: The game Honesty is based on Truth or Dare, but without the dare. When actually playing the game one player asks a question and all have to answer honestly, including the player who asked the pending question. For the new Ezine version of the game I will ask a new question each week and all ChatHouse® chatters are welcome [and invited] to send in a response. The following week not only will a new question be asked, but the answers to [any] previous questions that we recieve will also be posted, including my own. Please send all answers to ch_zine@hotmail.com and be sure to include the handle under which your input should be posted [if a handle is not submitted, there will be no handle posted with the response]. If you have any questions you'd like asked in our Q & A section, please send them to the same address! Thank you. The Question:If someone were to ask you right now who you're hero is, what would you tell them?
The Answers:Last Weeks Question:If you could go back to any era in history, where would your time machine take you and why? •
I would go to the late 40's/early 50's because the music was great, and life was simpler. Only thing I don't think I would have been down with is wearing a skirt with a poodle on it. *L* That, and the Rock wouldnt be there, if I could bring him with me though.... Wizardess•If i had the chance to go back in time,i'd go back to the Victorian era, England, just to give Queen Elizibeth some Loréal, or maybeline foundation, to save her skin from lead poisening! ~§~
~Soap~Gurl~
•After reading RodeoGirl's answer about Laura Ingals Wilder.... I would
like to go back to when she was alive.... I love the "prarie life" in a
sense.... It seems kind of cool and wholesome... me(f) • If I could travel back in time, and take someone with me, I'd like to take my daughter back in time to meet my maternal grandparents because they
are/were so much a part of who I am and who she will be.If I have to go it alone, I'd like to go back to when Jesus was resurrected. ORCA~NUT
•I would have to make a tough choice if I could only go back in time once. I'd either go back to about 1940 when my maternal grandparents were alive so that I could meet them both (my grandfather died in WW2 in 1945 and my grandmother died in 1956) or I'd go back to 1979, to the exact moment that my cousin was murdered to keep it from happening. MichiganStorm™ • I'd like to go back to the ummm late 1800's Where the woman were strong but still wanted to be femine and almost always
wore dresses. They felt secure in the knowing of how strong they were and how important
they were in the holding family and farm together, and didn't feel as
though they had to prove anything to anyone. What ever happened to that way
of thinking? Texas Storm ® •Ahhh... *S* There are two places back in time I would like to travel...the
Romantic era to hear all that music firsthand, exactly how the composer
intended it, and to the time of King Arthur so I could learn under someone
as magical as Merlyn. Sitha TOP |

Borrowed from
Taurus
..... April 20 - May
20
You will be eaten alive by a horde of army ants this week. On the up side, your
skeleton will never have been so shiney smooth. Do not make any long term
investments this week.
Leo
..... July 23 - August 22
A trip to the beach is on the cards this week. Or at least watching an
advertisement featuring a beach on television is on the cards this week. Are you
going to finish that hot dog?
Virgo
..... August 23 - September 22
What would ever happen if your worry beads broke? Your week will be best spent
doing carpentry.
Gemini
..... May 21 - June 20
Go on, count your chickens before they hatch. It's not like you're going to be
off by much. Unless you've taken to mixing your dinosaur eggs in with your
chicken eggs, in which case you deserve all the rounding errors you get.
Capricorn
..... December 22 - January 19
You receive a message from aliens through your SETI@Home client this week
telling you to knock it off; they haven't called or written for a reason, so
stop bugging them.
Cancer
..... June 21 - July 22
Nothing strange at all will happen to you this week. Wear halter tops this week,
all week. And show lots of leg. Especially if you find yourself having to stop
by the Sane Magazine offices this week.
Pisces
..... February 19 - March 20
A tray of peach cobbler proves Newton's thing about gravity this week, with you
as a witness/cause. It utterly fails when you attempt to get it to talk about
Descartes and his damn vortices.
Aries
..... March 21 - April 19
You miss the days when men were men and women were women. This is the least of
your concerns, and doesn't cross your mind in the least, because you're stuck in
a tree this week, having been chased up there by a rhinoceros being a perfect
example of a rhinoceros. The monkeys inhabiting the tree with you also display
distinctly monkey-like behavior.
Libra
..... September 23 - October 22
You will miss your train on Monday. You won't miss the following one, though,
and the watermelon will splash and splurch all over the windows as it goes
streaking past, much to the amusement of the other people waiting on the
platform, except for one person who gets hit by a stray bit of rind shrapnel.
Scorpio
..... October 23 - November 21
A rose by any other name is bound to confuse people, as they're more likely than
not adjusted to everyone calling it a rose by this point, and you going on being
all clever is just going to ruin it for everybody. We'd take your horoscope away
if you had one.
Sagittarius
..... November 22 - December 21
A missive delivered by an out of shape delivery boy in hotpants will save you
from jumping off that cliff at the last second to attempt to save the young fish
you saw hurtle over the falls. Your stopping leaping to your heroic deed could
have either been your reaction to the letter (one of those free advertisements
for a sale on somewhere, a golf shoppe, I believe) or your morbid curiosity in
the reaon(s) the delivery boy thought he should ever have attempted to put on
hotpants in the first place.

HomePage Help By MichiganStorm™Last week I gave you a few suggestions about learning HTML and a few links to where you might find the help you need in learning the script. Once you catch on to simple HTML everything else will seem relatively simple! Well, now that you've either took the initiative to either learn HTML or look for a web design program to suit your needs it's time to think about your pages; should they all hold to a single theme, should each differ, should each page have the same colors, should each page contrast the others. Those are just a few of the many questions you're going to ask yourself while building a website! My answer to those and to any other questions you might have regarding content is only one thing: This website represents you, which means whatever you want to share with people is what you should put on it!! Don't think that you need the same type of content others have and don't compare your site to anyone else's because it's not anyone elses - It's yours!
If you chose not to use any graphic backgrounds or colored background or fonts your page will be completely "default", meaning that it would look like this one [click here]! My suggestion to you would be to not only look at the page, but read it completely for a few tips on designing.
If you do chose to use a color or graphic background [or both if you're going to play safe] and change the color of your fonts, please keep in mind what you may have just read on the default example - Give your background a color even if you're using a graphic background! If you use a dark graphic background and white or light gray text and your background does not load then the viewer isn't going to be able to read your text, but if you give your background a dark value and your graphic background doesn't load your text will still be readable. To see an example of what you can do Click HERE. I've tried to keep my codes as clean as possible so that if you would like to right click on either page I just linked to and view source it should be easily read. You might also notice that at the bottom of the page there is an icon linking to the site from which I got that background, well some [like myself] put all their links on one page but when it comes to linking back to a page where a background was found it's sometimes best to do it on the page it was used otherwise how do we know which link to follow to find the background you've used [or ones like it]. Many background sites request that you link back to them and considering you're using their backgrounds or graphics for free, they're not asking much. What are the HEX color codes? Well, that's a fair question while we're talking about using colors to spruce up your fonts or backgrounds and maybe sometime in the near future your tables or borders! Let's see what I can pull out of my little back of links... kagraphics has an extremely easy to use "color picker". You just click on the color you want and the page turns that color as well as putting the HEX code for the color in a little box where you can highlight it and copy it for use in your codes.HEX CODES there are a few faults with this page. You have to highlight grays 10-23 to see them because they've used a black background, but that's no big deal really, if you can copy and paste you can highlight. Another mistake I noticed right off was that because they used a black background the darker colors are shown in white and I think it's due to this that they give the wrong code for black! Instead they give you the code for white [#FFFFFF] instead of [#000000] black. Draac.com has a marvelous display for getting just the color you want, though it seems a bit small there are a lot of colors with code there! And that's not all, Draac.com also has HTML tutorials!!. Just go to www.draac.com and check out the site, they have half a dozen tutorials for the new designer as well as some pretty cool stuff for the old ones!
Of the three links I just gave you, I have two of them bookmarked. I've had kagraphics bookmarked since I first started learning HTML and I bookmarked draac as soon as I found it, it seemed so usefull!. If you do a search you may find more of what you're looking for.Graphic Backgrounds are all over the net! Heck, I even have a half-assed background site! You can check out the links I'm going to give you here, but you can also go to www.webring.com which, like GeoCities, has merged with Yahoo. Once you reach Yahoo! WebRing just scroll down to where it says "Find A Ring" and in the little search box just type Backgrounds and you'll get quite a few matches, from there you're free to explore each webring and visit many sites. Of the sites I'm about to list, many, if not all, of them offer more than backgrounds, but for today's use I'm only interested in them for their backgrounds. Some of the links will take you directly to the background section of the sites as well. The Playground is my pathetic attempt, but if you like any of them feel free to use them! [the site was never "finished"]
Starlight Gallery is where I found the muted background used on one of the example pages. grsites has a bazillion tiled backgrounds, though they refer to them as textures they are tiles. Wendy's Backgrounds once you arrive you'll have to scroll a bit down the page, scroll past her links for her business and a few biblical links and you'll come to the banners she asks you to link back with, just a short scroll further and you're there! She has a wonderful selection, be sure to link back!! Twilight Dreams Design has tons of great gothic, wiccan and fantasy borders and muted tiles! I've had this page bookmarked for as long as I can remember. I love this site and I adore this womans work! www.magickalmoon.com
Jan's Designs Disney Designs.com That's just a few of the thousands of Free Background sites on the internet! Do a search via your favorite search engine or take a look through the webrings, you're guaranteed to find something somewhere that you like!! Other ways to find cool background sites is to go through some of your friends homepages and follow their links back to where ever they got theirs. Any HTML or other homepage questions? If I don't know the answer I'll find it and post it here with your question! ch_zine@hotmail.comTOP |

² Deleted Quote
The quote that was removed due to being found offensive was
"Support your local police force...steal"
I would just like to voice my opinion on how pathetically sad this is.
You remove a quote that was obviously intended as a joke because (i'm
guessing) one chatter found it offensive? have they not seen some of the
others that could be found offensive?
'after i finish running your program let's make love like crazed weasels'
or
'start a new hobby, buy lot's of rolling papers' I guess what i'm trying
to say is that if these people can't handle a little humour, maybe they
shouldn't be at a chat site as diverse as chathouse and maybe you
shouldn't try to accomodate they're pissy attitudes toward a little
joke. It's almost a guarantee that within 5 minutes of entering almost
any room in chathouse, you will encounter material much more offensive
than a little quote. A lot of the quotes are pretty lame but i, and many
in my room, found that quote to be one of the best and to have it
removed because of one person's inability to realize a joke is a shame.
Well
thank you, I'm sure I'll be getting emails to have those two quotes
delete now also. ~L~
And I agree that you'll find far more offensive things said within the
rooms, than you will in the quotes, and removing such quotes
assures that! The quotes I allow to be voted to be taken off, are
not the ones the chatters submit, but are the ones a few Daemons put in
when the program was first made . How and where they came up with most
of these I have yet to be brave enough to ask. ~L~

One
of the greatest people to have ever entered the attic has gone on to
another place. For this we are saddened by her death. Those who
knew Meg aka Miss Bitch loved her. Those who didn't know her thought
highly of her and respected her. Some people make the world special just
by being in it, Meg was one of those people!

My
Two Cents on
Double Standards
Gone
are the days of Right and Wrong, Black and White, Good and Evil. Welcome to the
age of pseudo-morality and double standards.
Just about
every major issue in America and even the World today has some kind of double
standard attached to it. With the decline of religious morality in the world and
the rise of secular humanism and situational ethics the double standard has
flourished.
Let me
give you just a few examples:
Take the "Drug War" for example. We 'wage war' on drugs, drug
traffickers, drug pushers, drug users -- why? Supposedly because they are BAD,
they hurt people, they are addictive, etc. However, cigarettes and alcohol are
LEGAL! WHY? They are bad, they hurt people, they are addictive, etc. DOUBLE
STANDARD! The irony here is that some of the illegal drugs do have GOOD
medicinal uses and some are safer and more effective for some purposes than the
legal alternatives. Such as marijuana for cancer and glaucoma treatment. Amphetamines
are safer and more effective for weight-loss or staying awake and alert (say for
truckers or night shift workers) than caffeine or the ephedra-based products on
the market. Whereas cigarettes and alcohol have no redeeming value, other than
the purported benefit of moderate amounts of alcohol in connection with heart
disease. Being a smoker and a former heavy drinker myself, I can personally attest to
the addictiveness of both cigarettes and alcohol as well. So, why the double
standard and why is it completely backwards from what would seem to be logical?
Now
consider abortion, euthanasia and capital punishment. All three result in death,
however rarely do you find anyone that supports all three. More often than not, if someone
supports abortion and/or euthanasia they are against capital punishment. On the
other hand, capital punishment supporters are are quite often against abortion and/or
euthanasia. The first group thinks it is OK to kill babies and old people, but
NOT the most vile and anti-social elements of our society. The second group
views all three as death sentences, yet only capital punishment is a deserved
death sentence. Here we have a double standard that truly does cut both ways and
if that wasn't confusing enough, there are some who do not waffle on this issue
at all.
Many religious groups (most notably the Catholic church) are against all three.
However, that in itself is a double standard, because the Bible specifically
endorses the death penalty, the same Bible that they claim to hold Holy
as the Word of God, but yet defy that Word on the issue of the death penalty.
DOUBLE STANDARD.
Racism,
bigotry and homophobia. These are all loosely related issues, all of which are
the poster children for double standards. The
mantra of the day is tolerance, compassion and sensitivity, HOWEVER even the
slightest statement or action that reflects negatively on any minority group is
met with outrage, censorship and militancy. Tolerance and sensitivity are only
applicable
to those who disagree with these groups and not to these groups or their
supporters themselves. DOUBLE STANDARD! Black pride in their history and heritage is good,
southern pride in the history and heritage of the south (as symbolized in the
Confederate flag) is bad. To force homosexuals to conform to heterosexual
religious standards is bad, but force-feeding acceptance of homosexuality down
the throats of people whose religion denounces it is good. DOUBLE STANDARD! An
'artist' portraying obscenities in a public gallery is freedom of expression,
but the free expression of your religious beliefs in public is religious bigotry
or a violation of the separation of church and state. DOUBLE STANDARD! If a
white man kills a black man, it's a "Hate Crime", but if a black man
kills a white man it's not. The first comes with a stiffer penalty than the
latter, which is not only a double standard, but a violation of a little
Constitutional principle called 'equal protection under the law'. Suddenly a
vocal minority is a little MORE equally protected than the less vocal majority.
DOUBLE STANDARD!
The
examples go on and on and on....
So rather
than giving you my 'two cents' on these issues, other than what may be apparent within the above examples,
I will simply present the double standards to YOU. I do this so that you may see them, consider them and
maybe realize how they relate to you or those around you. Is whatever is good for the goose
REALLY good for the gander? Do YOU have double standards? Are Right and Wrong
really a thing of the past or do they still have a place in the world?
Let
me hear YOUR two cents on the issue of Double Standards!
(Now there's an
interesting change of pace that I bet you weren't expecting, huh?)
