An Idea: Just a little idea a few of us had to get more chatters to interact. Perhaps you've played "What If?", if not it's simple, you're given a supposed hypothetical situation and are asked to give your opinion and/or thoughts on the question. Some of the questions are just that, questions to which you might answer a simple yes or no.

Each week I will post a new question for everyone to answer and the
following week the previous Q & A will be posted along with the new
question. I will also submit the questions to Senile Fantasy and
AmericanGirl@Heart for their answers. Next week I will begin with my first question.

Teen Update
Getting feedback from the teen rooms of our Chathouse has turned into a much more frustrating task then I first imagined it to be. So, if you chat in the teen rooms, I would be open to suggestions on how to get some feedback from other teen room chatters.

My Two Cents
on Racism

What is Racism? It is most commonly defined as the belief that one's own race is superior to all other races. However, in our modern day climate of multi-culturalism, it has taken on a completely different definition. It is this revised definition of Racism that I will discuss here today.

While we do still have the white supremacists, Aryan nation, etc. who believe that they are superior to all other races, there has crept up in society a new breed of racists. The new racists are much more subtle and devious than the overt racists of the past, they don't have shaved heads or where white hoods. The new racist uses words like fairness and diversity. They talk of including everyone while they quietly carve the lines of division in stone. They cry out against acts of hate committed against them, but look the other way as their own do the same against others.

Case in point: A major metropolitan city appoints it's first ever black police chief and is celebrated as a city that embraces diversity. Yet behind the scenes one finds that this new police chief was promoted through the ranks at an accelerated pace, completely skipping many of the steps along the way. He actually was promoted from a police sergeant directly to deputy chief, never having been a lieutenant or captain. Upon closer inspection, one finds that not only was this new police chief promoted that way, but it is a policy of the city to "skip promote" minorities in order to achieve the diversity that won them such acclaim. In keeping with that policy, this new police chief decided to diversify his command staff as well. He demoted eight of the top chiefs and assistant chiefs (6 of which were white) and replaced them with people who look like him. The demotions were handed down with No Just Cause other than their skin color not fitting into the diversity puzzle. Apparently they cannot achieve the diversity they seek within the competent pool of minority officers or they would not have to resort to "skip promoting" and dictatorial replacements to achieve it! Needless to say, this new chief of police is displaying legendary incompetence and mismanagement of the department. Surprised?

Do you want a police force protecting you which is made up of diverse skin colors or competent, knowledgeable, well-trained officers?

Another case in point: A typical, culturally diverse public school breeds the new racists and the local law enforcement looks the other way. A 13 year old white boy, good student, never in any trouble, wears a shirt to school that has a 1 X 1 1/2 inch Confederate flag patch on it. This was nothing new, he had worn it many times without incident or even notice. However, one day it was noticed by a fellow student, a black student, who complained to one of the school administrators. This administrator took this inch by inch and a half patch on the young man's shirt as absolute, undeniable proof that the young man was a RACIST! Having made that connection, this school administrator, also white, took it upon herself to "make an example" of this young racist. After a 3 day suspension, which is normally 1 day for wearing something "offensive", the administrator then made this young man apologize to the the entire black student population of the school for his being a racist. He was in effect TARGETED by this school administrator and branded as the school racist. After about a month of harassment by other students, including death threats, this young man, on Confederate Memorial Day, checks a book out of the school library. He is doing a book report FOR SCHOOL on Robert E. Lee and the book happens to have a Confederate flag on the cover of it. Of course this was spotted by a couple of minority students who then confronted the young man. They attacked him, beat him, kicked him when he was down and left him laying there unconscious with a concussion and three broken ribs.

Was this a hate crime?
Of course not, the victim was white and nobody hates white people. The police said it was not a hate crime, but rather they classified it as "mutual combat" based on the fact that the young man raised his fists in self-defense. Of course we all know that the victims of hate crimes do not or cannot defend themselves, that is why we need hate crime legislation! So, this brutal attack went completely unpunished by police, but what about the school, didn't they punish the students for this attack? Actually, the school DID give the two attackers a very stern warning that if it ever happened again the punishment would be severe! Don't you know those two boys are shaking in their boots now!

So class, what have we learned about this new breed of racists?

I. They claim to be against racism, but yet base their every action and decision on skin color (race).

II. Anything done to a minority by a white person is a hate crime, but anything done to a white person by a minority is proper payback.

III. Even though the Confederate flag is a symbol of southern pride, individualism and heritage to many in the south, it is grounds for violence to the new racist.

IV. Quality, Competence, Knowledge and Experience are not important to the new racist. All that matters is whether or not the skin colors of elected officials, city employees, etc. reflect the same percentages that the Census numbers indicate for the local population.

The New Racist, the Multi-Culturalist, does not think himself/herself to be superior to any other race, but actually quite the contrary. The multi-culturalist will freely admit that his/her race or another race "needs help" because they don't do as well on tests, or have been held back by the "good-old-boy" network or for whatever reason cannot compete against "the white man". The New Racist throws out the "Race Card" like a deadly ninja throwing star whenever they don't get their way or feel that there are not enough "people like them" in key positions. A minority New Racist will scream racism in order to gain advancement rather than work to earn that advancement. The white New Racist, who has swallowed the multi-culturalist propaganda hook, line and sinker, will avoid the "Race Card" at all cost, even to the point of sacrificing innocents and promoting incompetence!

The New Racism in America is a philosophy of symbolic and superficial equality. Rather than strive for true equality and equal representation based on competence and qualification, they choose the appearance of equality at the expense of competence and qualification. The New Racist talks of empowerment and the lifting up of all races, but simultaneously acts to lower us all to the lowest common denominator so that even the lowest can achieve a position without ever really having to work for it or even be qualified for it. The New Racist is more dangerous to society than the KKK, Aryan Nation, Skinheads and all the other traditional racists combined could ever be!

Now, look around you, what do YOU see? Do you see skin colors? Do you see competence and incompetence? Can your interests be served or represented by someone of a different race than yourself?

Are you a multi-culturalist? Do YOU believe that other races are inferior to the "white race"? Do you believe they need help or special, preferential treatment in order to be successful? Do you put skin color before qualification?

For the record, I am neither a New racist, nor a traditional racist. I see a person's value as something much deeper than the surface of their skin. I believe in the "best man for the job", white, black, brown, yellow, orange, pink or green! I believe that the only limitation that holds anyone back is their own ability or lack thereof. Those who succeed, of any race, do so because they accept nothing less, they rise to the occasion. They seek out the new, creative and innovative approach rather than look for someone to "open the door for them".

That's My Two Cents, Deal With It!

So, what have you got to say?

Let me know and I'll tell you if it's worth 2 cents!
