Chathouse Resolutions Apparently ChatDom and myself had some of the same ideas about this issue, we both made our way through Chathouse asking people about their New Year Resolutions, or revolutions depending on the answer I suppose!
Mr.Bigglesworth: To have more happy things then sad things in my life this year *S* so far I'm off to a good start too *S* doug!: my new years res is to score all the nice girls that are blonde ~*Forbidden*~: I don't make New Years Resolutions anymore.... I never keep them..... *L* I learned 3way: my resolution would be to get back to school by Fall...*S* Aeon: ...Resolutions?...pffft*...why should I change?... I'm fine just the way I am - in fact I think it's about damn time the world started changing to suit me *winks and laughs*... My2CentsDealW/it!: Resolution? First of all, a resolution is only as good as the person making it, but my resolution this year is to build upon the patriotic God-fearing mood of the country since 9-11 and start a grass roots effort to restore America to the grandeur that is once had and so richly deserves! Infamous™: if i had to make a resolution it would have to be to get my ass in better shape. I'm finally starting to recover from a strained back that i've had for over a year....so i'm thinking i need to work on building up at least my upper body...and most importantly my back & ads. I wanna make sure it doesn't happen again. It's a real bitch. Eyes of the Soul: My New years resolution was to meet one new person a day for a whole year because I'm such a recluse. MichiganStorm™: Not enough room for the entire list, but it boils down to this- I need to lose a LOT of weight and take better care of myself, but I've broken it down into steps. First I give up soda (unless it's mixed with Jim Beam, then it don't count *G* cuz the bourbon kills it *L*), then fast food a few weeks later, then Chocolate, etc... See? And by next new years I hope I don't have to make the same damn resolutions AGAIN for the tenth year in a row *L* ~MM~:
To Everyone, I wish a safe, happy, healthy and joy filled New Year.
2002 is a chance for us to have a wonderful year. Let's all make it count.
Love to my friends. ChatDominatrix: To do less chatting and more Domming! ~WDG~ |

Horoscopes For week beginning January 7, 2002 Try to remember, other people may not be able to keep up with you, they could also disagree with some of your actions. If you can consider others in your decisions, you will have a very successful week.
Whatever you find yourself doing this week, will bring you into contact with many new people, which could in itself cause a change in your own life as you could make many new friends and perhaps even start a new relationship.
Why not take time at the start of the week to reflect on your successes and failures this year. You could be pleasantly surprised with what you discover. Friends will prove invaluable as a dispute could arise between you and someone in authority. A friends intervention is likely to calm the situation and enable things to be sorted out amicably and quickly. Remember to compromise when the situation calls for it, you may make matters worse if you dig your heels in.
You are likely to be easily led and influenced. Your finances could take a real hammering if you indulge yourself in get rich quick schemes that no matter how good the sales pitch is, have little or no chance of ever succeeding. You will be particularly gullible, the packaging of a product on a shop shelf will easily influence you into making a purchase that you are bound to regret as soon as you get the product home.
Monday should find you starting the week in a reflective frame of mind. Uppermost, you will be conscious of the changes you have undergone over the past few years. You could discover that you have recently become far more set in your ways, the need for excitement and adventure having been diffused somewhat and overtaken by your constant search for security and comfort.
Relationships especially are likely to benefit from a new approach to life. Those of you that are single, may take a step now, that could in the near future result in you finding the love that you have always dreamt of. As a first step, pay special attention to a comment made by a stranger.
You will have to try very hard not to fall out with most people that you come into contact with. Those especially at risk are likely to be the people that you work with. You will find that you have a very determined air about you, you will be unable to accept any mistakes or delays, and your temper could be on a particularly fine hair trigger.
You will find that all forms of communication have a higher degree of success than you could hope for. If the decisions that you make have an effect on others, care will need to be taken regarding how you tell them. Not everyone will show the enthusiasm that you would hope for your plans.
The week is likely to be filled with feelings of love for all around you, you will even be able to appreciate the beauty in the most mundane things around. It's the sort of time when you will be able to find beauty in anything from a pebble in the street to the most famous paintings and sculptures.
Some people around you, especially women, are likely to be in particularly bad moods, so don't be surprised if confrontations happen unexpectedly. Don't give in too easily, especially if you are right!
You are probably very ambitious and this week you will find a way to impress your employer and if things go to plan, you could find that actions or plans made now will help you get your foot on the next rung of the ladder
You may start to develop a deeper understanding of the people that you come into contact with every day, this should ensure that you life in the future is both easier and more pleasant. Click For More |

Thanks to Ocey The history of the Times Square Celebration:
• The first Ball-lowering celebration atop One Times Square was held on December 31, 1907 and has continued as a proud tradition for the past 93 years. • In 1942 and 1943 the Ball lowering was suspended due to the wartime dimout. The crowds who still gathered in Times Square celebrated with a minute of silence followed by chimes ringing out from an amplifier truck parked at One Times Square. • The original New Year's Eve Ball weighed 700 pounds and was 5 feet in diameter. It was made of iron and wood and was decorated with 100 25-watt light bulbs. • The Ball is a geodesic sphere, six-feet in diameter, and weighs approximately 1,070 pounds. • For Times Square 2002 all 504 Waterford crystal triangles were replaced with the new "Hope for Healing" design -- three lit candles surrounded by outspread hands in gesture of healing. A select number of crystals were engraved with the names of all of the countries and regions that lost citizens in the September 11th tragedy. Also, a select number of crystals were engraved with the names of the uniformed rescue organizations that lost members during the rescue effort. And, the Pentagon, the four airline flights and the World Trade Center were also honored with engraved crystals. Click here for an engraving list. on As we enter this new year in the midst of a 'War on Terrorism', much has been made of the religions involved on both sides of this war. Words like Jihad or Holy War are being bandied around and people being victimized for their religious beliefs, namely those of Islamic faith. While there have been cases of religious persecution of Muslims in America, this is not the persecution that I am discussing today. Rather I wish to bring to light the subtle and insidious persecution of Christians in America. Religious freedom is the main principle that the United States was founded upon. America was founded by Protestant Christians seeking to escape religious persecution in Europe. However, the persecution of Christians in America today is not confined solely to the Protestant denominations. However, the persecution has not been overt or openly stated, but rather has been perpetrated by covert, clandestine and incremental means. It has been a persecution through subtle innuendo and stereo-typing built over time. Now, many of you may be thinking that I am crazy to make such claims, but that only illustrates the subtlety of this persecution. It has been largely gone unnoticed by the vast majority of Americans. Although there have been times when it was more obvious, but never to the point of raising alarm in the general public. Many who have noticed and tried to raise the alarm were branded as fanatics, bigots or any number of other negative labels to discredit them. Others who noticed were silenced by their own doubts, the 'Is it just me?' or 'What if I'm wrong?' type doubts. But the evidence is all there for those brave enough to open their eyes and see. The question is how many of you are willing to take action to free us from this persecution? First let me point out a few of the tools of persecution. Things like "Tolerance", multi-culturalism and "Separation of Church and State". These three things have been used to beat down Christians to the point that it is almost as bad to claim to be a Christian as it is to claim to be a racist or bigot or homophobe. Actually, many Christian social, moral or political positions have been called racist, bigoted or homophobic for years because they are "intolerant" of the views or beliefs of non-christians. Needless to say, we as Christians have been beaten on a daily basis with this notion of "Tolerance". We must be tolerant of the beliefs of others who are not required to be equally tolerant of OUR views and beliefs. We must tolerate, but not be tolerated. This attitude has been slowly and subtly implanted into our society over years/generations now. Although Christianity is by far the dominant religion in America, it has simultaneously been reduced to second-class status. Using the battering ram of "Tolerance", multi-culturalism was born. Born out racial equality, multi-culturalism seeks to give every ethnicity, race and religion in this 'melting pot' we call America and equal voice. A noble enough goal, however their vision of "equal" is a bit lopsided and divisive. It is not enough for every culture, race or religion to have equal freedoms, opportunities or security. They must have that and more, such as special privileges and promotion of their agendas over and above that of the majority. For example, Christianity is by far the dominant religion in America, however our schools are being forbidden to discuss Christian beliefs while they promote education of other religions such as Kwanza or Ramadan. In many schools the pledge of allegiance is banned because it's reference to God might offend those who believe in Allah or Buddha or no god at all. Now, just for the record, I have nothing against being sensitive to the beliefs of others. If someone wants to substitute Allah or Buddha or Universal Consciousness for the word God in the pledge of allegiance, I have no problem with that. If social studies teachers want to broaden their students minds by teaching about Kwanza or Ramadan as well as Christmas or Thanksgiving then that is fine by me. It is the EXCLUSION of Christianity (the majority religion) to promote other minority religions that is persecution. The multi-cultural approach actually flies in the face of the third tool of persecution, that being the falsehood of "Separation of Church and State". This falsehood is largely responsible for the reduction of Christianity to a second-class religion. It removed Christian teachings and practices from our schools and public buildings, yet it seems to allow the promotion of other religions in those same places. It allows the teaching of Darwinian evolution even though evolution can no more be proven or disproven than the Christian account of Adam and Eve or the flood of Noah. It allows the teaching of other religious beliefs, but disallows Christian beliefs. It allows children to be taught many things that are contrary to their Christian beliefs, but yet will not allow even the mention of God for fear that someone might be offended. Now, I have been a student of the Constitution for quite some time and never have I ever seen anything in the Constitution guaranteeing anyone the right NOT to be offended. As for the "Separation of Church and State", well that is a pure fabrication in itself. The Constitution says that the government shall not "establish a religion", meaning that there will be no single established national religion. There will be no church in America that is sacrosanct or established as the official religion of the nation. It also says that the government will not stop the free expression of religion. By free expression of, that means prayer in school, the discussion of religion in science class, etc. However, the falsehood of Separation has indeed done just that, it has barred the free expression of Christianity and in essence established the religion of multi-cultural secular humanism. So, as this new year gets under way, I ask you to think about these things and look around and notice this persecution for what it is. As your children go back to school after Winter Break (formerly Christmas break), pay attention to what they are being taught in school. In the aftermath of 9-11 there has been a surge in American patriotism and in love of GOD as well as country. The terrorist attack on our country has done alot in regards to undoing some of the damage that has been done over the years. Now it is up to us to see what has gone on in the past, what is going on now and put an end to this persecution in the future. In reaction to 9-11 we got a glimpse of the Proud God-fearing nation that America once was and still is at heart. Tolerance is a wonderful thing, but only when it is practiced on by all sides. There are many cultures and beliefs in America and all are welcome, but remember that in the end we are all AMERICANS. Let God back into the mainstream, back in the schools and make Allah, Buddha, Yahweh and everyone else welcome there as well. There is more to education than reading writing and arithmetic, there is much wisdom in the Bible, the Koran, the Torah and other religious writings. We need not persecute the majority to make room for the minority. This long term attack on Christianity has taken it's toll on America and especially on our youth. It is time we give back the morality, the respect and the Divine to our children openly and publicly without shame or reservation. That's My Two Cents, Deal With It!
So, what have you got to say? Let me know and I'll tell you if it's worth 2 cents! *note: all names and handles will be changed or removed to protect the pathetic* |
