Everything you ever wanted to know about this particular Chathouse®
Feature...
Intercom
- What does Intercom do?
Intercom allows you to send a
message to someone in another room, even if that room is full. Unlike
sending a message, sending a Intercom
reaches it's destination immediately, as long as the recipient is
currently chatting. There is no need for them to check for messages
to receive your intercom. However, the recipient cannot answer you.
Intercom is not like leaving
a message in the Message Center or chatting; you can only send an intercom,
but cannot receive a response. But it's a good way to let someone
know where you are. If you can't meet in a full room, ask them to
come with you to another room.
- Who can use Intercom?
Anyone registered may receive an Intercom,
message or may one.
- How does Intercom work?
Choose the Intercom option on
the grid below. This will take you to the Intercom
page. Fill in your handle and password. Choose the level on which
you will find the room your friend is chatting in. Next you will be
asked to indicate the number of the chatter to whom you want to send
the message -- you'll find that number next to their handle. Lastly,
you will indicate which room that chatter is in. Then send the intercom.
Remember, you won't get an answer.
- Why would I want to use Intercom?
Intercom allows you to contact
someone if you can't get into the room they are in. You can arrange
to meet them in another room. Intercom
allows you to contact someone when you don't have time to chat. It
allows you to send a message immediately.
- Where do I find Intercom?
You can get to Intercom by clicking
on intercom icon anytime you see it anywhere in the Chathouse®
